Through investments for the benefit of the tobacco farmers, their families and communities as well as the environment Marca Fina supports and promotes a sustainable model for the production and global trade of high-quality cigars.
Delivering high-quality cigars means much more than just selecting the best tobaccos. Marca Fina strongly believes that it is important to establish mutually beneficial relationships with the tobacco farmers and tobacco communities we cooperate with. Success of the farmers with whom we trade is an essential component of our own success. For the relationship with the tobacco communities we pursue a holistic approach. This approach is based on the following columns:
Pay fair prices in order to help tobacco farmers be profitable and support their families.
Encourage them to participate in F.T.A.C. (Federación de Tabaqueros America Central), the Central American Association of Independent Tobacco Farmers. Guidelines for socially and ecologically responsible cultivation and trade of tobacco support the members in selling their high-quality tobaccos on the world market at better prices. Furthermore, F.T.A.C. supports its members in producing high-quality tobaccos from their own initiative. Directly manufacturing their products leads to more independence from the prices on the world market and higher added value.
Purchase and promotion of environmental protection (Natural Shade Grown) and certified tobacco including Fair Traded Tobacco™. „Natural Shade Grown“ tobacco denotes tobacco cultivated in the shadow of tropical trees instead of on large-scale monocultures. In this way the tobacco is of course protected from harmful solar radiation and further clearing of primary rain forest areas is prevented. Furthermore use of pesticides is generally no longer required, since diseases and pests typical to monocultures fail to materialise.
